Google acquire another messaging company

On Tuesday 5 June 2012 Google announced that it is acquiring Meebo, a multi-messaging platform, for around $100m. Meebo is a veteran of the current Internet boom having started back in 2005. Meebo was one of the first integrated multi-messaging platforms that allow you to log into one interface and access all of your IM clients including MSN, Facebook, Yahoo, AOL and GMail. In recent years it has also expanded its offering to allow a "like" functionality that is a quasi-Google+ feature.
