.DESI Specifics

Background of .Desi

NetNames has been given notice that dotDesi plan to open the .DESI new Top Level Domain registry on the 16th June 2014. The .DESI gTLD will be supported by KCRegistry as the back-end provider. The .DESI TLD will be an open registry and will offer the following registration periods:-

Trademark Sunrise 16th June 2014 to 16th August 2014 ✔
Landrush Phase 25th August 2014 to 26th September 2014 ✔
General Availability 6th October 2014 onwards ✔

DotDesi will be offering Sunrise registrations to all Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) verified mark holders. Any valid duplicate applications made during the Sunrise period will be resolved by means of an auction after the close of the phase on the 16th August 2014. Sunrise orders can be placed via your NetNames Domain Management Portal or via your Account Manager. Should you still wish to place any trademarks with the TMCH, please contact your Account Manager.

DotDESI will be offering a traditional Landrush application period for non-TMCH registrants. Any valid duplicate applications made during the Sunrise period will be resolved by means of an auction after the close of the phase on the 27th September 2014.

Registration Info

  • The .DESI gTLD will be available to any applicant without restriction
  • Registrations can be for 3 to 63 characters
  • .DESI will support IDN registrations in ASCII local script.
  • Applications made in the Trademark Sunrise or Landrush phase will incur a one-off Access fee which will be billed in the next invoice period and is non- refundable.
  • Initial Sunrise and Landrush applications are for two years
