Background of .RYUKYR

NetNames has been given notice that GMO Registry plan to open the .RYUKYR new Top Level Domain registry on the 20th October 2014. The .RYUKYR gTLD will be supported by GMO as the back-end provider. The .RYUKYR TLD will be an open registry and will offer the following registration periods:-

Trademark Sunrise20th October 2014 to 19th December 2014✔
Landrush Phase24th December 2014 to 23rd January 2015✔
General Availability28th January 2015✔

Dotryukyu is a GeoTLD representing the Ryukyu islands in the southern part of Japan. The purpose of .ryukyu is to promote .ryukyu and provide an opportunity for citizens, businesses and community groups to link their identities to the city’s brand

GMO Registry will be offering Sunrise registrations to all Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) verified mark holders. Any valid duplicate applications made during the Sunrise period will be resolved by means of an auction after the close of the phase on the 19th April 2014. Sunrise orders can be placed via your NetNames Domain Management Portal or via your Account Manager. Should you still wish to place any trademarks with the TMCH, please contact your Account Manager.

GMO Registry will also offer a Landrush stage from 28th April 2014.

Registration Info

  • The .RYUKYR gTLD will be available without restrictions.
  • Registrations can be for 3 to 63 characters
  • .RYUKYR will support IDN registrations in Japanese local script.
  • Applications made in the Trademark Sunrise phase will incur a one-off Sunrise Access fee which will be billed in the next invoice period and is non-refundable.
  • Applications made in the Landrush phase will incur a one-off Sunrise Access fee which will be billed in the next invoice period and is non- refundable.
