Hong Kong suffixes and domain categories to be launched in Chinese characters

In February/March 2011, the Hong Kong Registry will be launching new suffixes and domain categories in Chinese characters. These new characters will consist of corresponding domain categories for every existing .hk category.

To prepare for this launch, the Registry will cease to accept applications for Chinese character domain names under the .hk suffix as of 18 January 2011.

All registered Chinese character domains under the .hk suffix prior to this date will continue to be supported and remain active.

In addition, registrants who have registered a Chinese character domain under the .hk suffix before 18 January 2011 will automatically receive the corresponding Chinese character domain name, at no additional cost, after the launch. Launch details will be published as they become available.
