Counterfeiting has grown to such an extent that the UK "market" is valued at 21.6 billion, according to research by NetNames, an online brand protection company.

Businesses whose products are faked lose out on sales and the problem costs EU governments 167 billion a year. Stuart Fuller, of NetNames, said: "This report highlights the shocking impact [counterfeiting] is having on markets across the globe."
